Our first trip to Priorat was everything we’d imagined and more: dramatic landscapes, unforgettable wines, and some of the warmest hospitality we’ve experienced anywhere in the wine world.
This corner of Spain may be globally revered by wine lovers, but it still feels wonderfully untouched and deeply authentic. Here’s a look at the people, places, and moments that made Priorat such a memorable experience for us including stops at Celler Gritelles, Clos Figueras, and Cal Pla.

Very interesting article, Allison, and great photos/videos! Those old vines are amazing! Never heard of chestnut barrels being used, are they standard size or larger? And are you getting a piece of the heat wave we’ve been hearing about? Thanks, Vaughan

Apparently the chestnut barrels were used many years ago before oak became the norm. But as the chestnut barrels are still functional, they continue to use them. We had great weather but were gone before the heatwave thankfully!
