Stunning views no matter the angle.
Perched atop a picturesque hill in the heart of Napa Valley’s Carneros AVA, Artesa Winery offers far more than a wine tasting experience—it’s a destination where art and winemaking converge in stunning harmony. Steeped in tradition yet guided by modern innovation, Artesa seamlessly blends its Catalan heritage with the vibrant spirit of California’s wine country, captivating visitors with feast for the senses before they even lift a glass.
Artesa’s story begins not in Napa but in Spain, where its parent company, Codorníu Raventós, has been crafting wine since 1551. Known as one of the oldest winemaking families in the world, their expertise in sparkling wine production eventually inspired them to seek new horizons.

An architectural marvel.
In 1991, they established Codorníu Napa, focusing on sparkling wine. However, the Carneros region—with its cool marine breezes and clay loam soils—proved equally suited to Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. By 1997, the winery rebranded as Artesa, a name derived from the Catalan word for “artisan,” reflecting a shift toward still wines and a commitment to craftsmanship.
Today, Artesa continues this legacy with a portfolio that showcases not only their Spanish heritage but also a deep connection to Napa’s terroir. While we didn’t have the opportunity to taste their wines onsite due to a private event, the vineyard’s reputation for producing expressive Pinot Noirs and Chardonnays underscores their mastery of blending old-world tradition with modern innovation.

Follow the steps to enter a most unique winery.
Stepping onto the 350-acre estate is like walking into a living sculpture. Designed by renowned Barcelona architect Domingo Triay, the winery’s architecture is as much a draw as the wine itself. From the moment you approach, the building appears almost hidden, seamlessly integrated into the landscape. Its grass-covered roof and earthen tones make it feel like a natural extension of the rolling Carneros hills.
The experience begins at the entrance, where fountains and reflecting pools create a serene atmosphere. The water features aren’t just decorative—they symbolize the life-giving power of nature and provide a cooling effect on warm Napa afternoons. As you ascend the steps to the main building, the view opens up to reveal sweeping vistas of the Carneros AVA and San Pablo Bay, a panorama that’s nothing short of spectacular.

Inside, the winery balances modern minimalism with artistic flourishes. Clean lines and natural light create an open, inviting space, while rotating art installations add a dynamic cultural layer to the experience. The architecture isn’t just a backdrop; it’s a statement about Artesa’s philosophy of blending tradition with forward-thinking design.
What makes Artesa so unique is how it draws visitors into the larger story of Napa Valley.

So many beautiful aspects of the winery.
Its elevated location offers one of the most spectacular viewpoints in the region, perfect for those iconic wine country photos. The architecture invites contemplation, while the tasting experiences—whether on the terrace or in the sleek tasting room—immerse guests in a sensory journey that goes beyond the glass.
Artesa also honors its Spanish roots through curated experiences. Visitors can learn about the winery’s Codorníu heritage, explore its approach to sustainable winemaking, or simply revel in the beauty of a space designed to inspire.

A visit best shared with friends.
This isn’t just a winery; it’s a living museum of craftsmanship, from the vineyards to the architecture.
For anyone planning a trip to Napa Valley, Artesa should be high on the list—not just for wine lovers but for anyone who appreciates beauty, history, and innovation. It’s a place where the boundary between nature and human creativity blurs, offering a respite from the hustle of everyday life.
Whether you’re drawn by its reputation for high quality wines, its Spanish heritage, or its striking design, Artesa invites you to slow down and savour the moment. Because in Carneros, wine isn’t just something you drink—it’s something you experience.
