One of the joys of visiting any wine region is that it’s also farm country which means direct access to fresh, organic & local food. The Columbia Valley is no different. In fact, so much so it seemed that every restaurant we ate at in Walla Walla went out of their way to tell us what had just come in (Heirloom tomatoes, fresh wildberries, etc) along with directing us to other local eateries versus well known franchises. For such a small town, the quality we found in the restaurant scene here was truly remarkable.

St Francis has grown to be one of the larger wineries in the Sonoma Valley. That growth has allowed them to invest in a beautiful winery and tasting room off the Sonoma Highway (12) in Kenwood. It is one of the best wineries to visit in the Sonoma Valley.

This is how we discovered Jack London State Historic Park, the former site of the ‘Beauty Ranch’, the famous author’s personal retreat where he went to write, ride horseback and work on a number of experimental farming techniques.
