Bordeaux France

The vineyards at Chateau Suduiraut.

While travelling from Bordeaux to Rioja last year, we made our first visit to Sauternes, a region synonymous with some of the best dessert wine in the world. It’s most famous resident, Château d’Yquem, is the only wine in the region classified as a Premier Cru Classé Supérieur. One of the great things about going on these tours is that you get into places that you simply cannot on your own.

Vineyard views at Waterkloof.

We recently travelled to South Africa with G Adventures to experience the extraordinary beauty of that country. We found that some of the most stunning settings were in the Western Cape where high mountains rise next to the expanse of the Atlantic Ocean. Settled into those mountains are South Africa’s two best wine regions: Stellenbosch and Franschhoek.
