We recently had the opportunity to meet and taste with Jonathan Lachs, winemaker and co-owner of Cedarville Vineyard and Winery in Fairplay on our recent visit to El Dorado County. For Jonathan and his wife Susan Marks, creating Cedarville has been the fulfillment of a lifelong dream the two have shared. We met with Jonathan to hear firsthand how they were able to achieve that dream.

We have been fans of Lauren Ashton Cellars since we first discovered the winery in Woodinville close to five years ago. They recently launched their second label, Ashton Troy Wines, as an exclusive offering for the restaurant market. The result is well priced wine that still manages to maintain the same high quality that fans of Lauren Ashton have come to expect.

St. Francis Winery and Vineyards has for a long time been on our list of favourite California wineries. We can still remember the 1996 St. Francis Reserve Merlot, the wine that tuned us on to St. Francis and the wine that turned us on to Merlot! The fruit-forward and beautifully textured style of that wine remains the house style today.
