The 10 Most Beautiful Regions in the World.

We think most people will agree that wine regions offer up among the best views available anywhere in the world. While that claim isn’t very controversial, distilling those regions down to what we consider to be the 10 best, likely will be. Let us start by saying that we wanted to ensure our recommendations were based on personal experience to be as authentic as possible. We recognize that despite our varied travels, there are still many we have yet to visit so this list will remain a work in progress. Case in point, we have AdVINEtures lined up this year that include 3 regions we’ll be visiting for the first time: Fruili Venezia Giulia (Italy), Istria (Croatia), and Chablis (France). Late Autumn in the Douro Valley.

The region offers a great diversity of wine styles, from white to red, still to sparkling, table to dessert, and all at very fair prices. It is also a stunningly beautiful region of steep valleys covered in terraced vineyards that fall down to shimmering blue rivers.

Rolf de Bruin.

The word ‘pioneer’ gets bandied about a lot, but it truly takes vision to open the first commercial winery nowadays in a region with barely any viticultural history. It certainly wasn’t the first place Rolf de Bruin and his wife Heleen Pannekoek had considered for a winery when they emigrated from Holland, but heading into their 11th harvest, they’re already making their mark on BC’s rapidly developing wine scene at Fort Berens.
