CSMbottle2007 Chateau Ste. Michelle Merlot Cold Creek Vineyard (Columbia Valley, WA)

The 2007 Chateau Ste. Michelle Merlot from the Cold Creek Vineyard is a very dark wine with aromas of blackberry, black cherry and baking spices. After some time a hint of vanilla pokes through. There is a boatload of fruit (think blackberry and boysenberry) but it is balanced by enough structure to keep everything in bounds. Very Cabernet like. Delicious.

WCbottle2000 Woodward Canyon Artist Series (#9) Cabernet Sauvignon — Washington, USA

The 2000 Woodward Canyon Artist Series Cabernet Sauvignon is yet another example of why we love this winery and its winemaking style. It’s a big, bold, complex wine, where the intensity is perfectly balanced and smooth with a very long finish. Dark red in colour, it was showing just the slightest age on the rim. Blackberry, black cherry and plum dominated the aroma while the flavour was a beautiful combination of fruit and wood with secondary notes of spice, earth and leather. Drinking brilliantly right now, it showed no sign of breaking down.

 Excellent/Extraordinary
