We toured Chateau La Couspaude (more commonly referred to simply as “Couspaude”) and tasted with members of the owners’ family as a part of a tour from Bordeaux to Rioja with Iberian Wine Tours. Deep red in colour you’d never guess it was a 14 year old wine. A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc, this wine is a shining example of why these grapes so work well together. The blackcurrant, earth and mint notes of the Cab pair beautifully with the plum notes and voluptuousness of the Merlot giving this wine a wonderful complexity and ultra-smooth mouth feel. One of our all-time favourite wines from Washington that is drinking at its peak.
