2001 d’Arenberg Cabernet Sauvignon The Coppermine Road
Dark red with a slight fade at the rim, the nose revealed black currants and bumble berry pie with hints of menthol and vanilla. Its full body delivers a palate that is powerful and long with a streak of acidity on the finish that ends with a slightly tart note. Bigger in style but balanced, quite Napa in style.

2001 Killibinbin Shiraz
A delightful aged Shiraz with lots of dark fruits. Black cherry and bramble berry are delivered in a well balanced, medium bodied style. It has a good mouthfeel with just the right amount of texture; round without being soft. The tannins are fully resolved and there are some secondary characteristics of olive and woodsy notes that join the blackberry to add interest and complexity, though this wine is mostly about the fruit. It finishes just slightly hot. Drink now!

2005 Elderton Cabernet Sauvignon Ashmead Vineyard
Dark red with a slight fade at rim. Very expressive nose of black currants and blackberries. Big, full bodied and comes across as quite Napa-like with its almost plush mouth feel. Flavours of black cherry are supported with a lovely spice and herb nuance. It finishes grippy and long. Fully mature now but should have many more years in front of it.

2002 Barossa Valley Estate E & E Black Pepper Shiraz
Still inky dark in colour. Aromas rise up from the glass that are an intoxicating mix of black fruit, spices and a hint of oak. Flavours of black cherry, blackberry and raspberry receive additional complexity from the black pepper and other spices. Medium body and smooth, this is miles away from the stereotypical Barossa bruiser. Beautifully balanced and elegant, this is a great food wine. Raspberry and a slight piquant note form the long finish. Delicious!
