Video AdVINEture: Southern Okanagan Valley

Posted on Nov 11, 2020

With COVID-19 currently keeping us grounded from overseas travel, we’re lucky enough to live in one of the most beautiful places on the planet that includes a world-class wine region. We headed back to the Okanagan Valley at the beginning of Harvest and visited 5 more wineries: Black Hills Estate, CheckMate Artisanal Winery, Phantom Creek EstatesPoplar Grove Winery, and Blasted Church. This video provides a few highlights of our conversations with their winemakers. Click on the individual links for the full story on each…cheers!

Nice video. Still, it shocks me every time I see people talking about the making of the wine when it is obvious they are not the ones getting their hands dirty (like the Phantom Creek “CO”, or the one at Poplar Grove in the video, both kind of embarrassing honestly).

On the other hand, thanks for going to the source and getting some insights from the guys in the cellar or the vineyard directly (Checkmate, Blasted Ch and BlackHills)… I’m no expert at all so it’s always more engaging knowing from the ones actually making what I drink!

    • Thank you for taking the time to watch and comment. Speaking to the winemakers is always a priority but it’s not always possible (especially during harvest!). But we also believe that proprietors and people that work within the winery or know the background and history can provide great insight as well. Cheers!

While we are all unable to travel, it is so wonderful to explore this gorgeous region virtually through your visit. What a beautiful video. I feel like I have such an understanding of the atmosphere of this region through your video.
